School of Rock rocks

Oh, man. Another several months have gone by– I’m now married!

(and I’ve gotten through about all of the thank-you cards), I’m more than six months into the new job (which now certifiably rocks since we got a great creative director on board)…

and I’m crazy inspired by the movie School of Rock to get my lazy butt back on my drums again. But I’ll have to put it on hold– I don’t have the room in my apartment at the moment. Maybe if my will is strong enough I’ll get the rudiment books (and a measly drum pad) back out again.

Yep, Jack Black (AKA Jables) is going to be the next big thing. As he puts it, “I’m chubby… and sexy.” Yep indeed.

Yeah, I’m married. So?! It doesn’t mean I can’t be jealous of Laura Kightlinger.

Speaking of loving my husband very much, our wedding pictures should be getting some web exposure very soon. I have the disposable-cam pictures back, and I should be getting proofs from the “official” photographer today. I hope we didn’t tee her off too much– apparently she was upset that she missed us leaving the reception. I just had to get out of there. Wearing a corset takes away a good percentage of your willingness to stay and hang out.

Mmm! Meeting leftovers for lunch! Gotta go.

Oh my blog!

It’s been so long since I’ve blogged. My new job at keeps the work weeks long, especially since there’s at least three hours in commuting tacked on to each day. Ech. It’s a good thing that the great people make up for it. When we move to River North, it’ll be super-keen.

The people are cool, you say? How’s that? Well, for one thing, these people like their parties. There was not one, but two (count ’em, two!) parties yesterday given by folks from the office. And there’s only about thirty employees! Jed and I only went to one, because I wanted to use some of the afternoon to work on a campaign pitch (scheduled for Tuesday) for a new client of theirs. I know, kinda nerdy. :)

Interview with a Designer

Someone please update Internet Explorer for Mac OS 10.2!! Mine just quit after I’d blogged for a while already, and all was lost. Argh.

Still waiting to hear about the part-time invitation design thing in Winnetka (North Shore style!) I had a great 2-hour interview last Friday. She all but offered me the job right there.

I also have an interview next week with an evening wear designer in Morton Grove who needs a graphic designer. That one’s more on the inconvenient side, location-wise. (no car…cab from the Metra)

Sangria with some of the walking girls tonight at Coobah. I wonder if I’ll ever do the “new & improved” Avon walk. It seems like the old walk (by Palotta) was much cooler. Can’t do it this year, with all the wedding planning. Maybe the girls can help me with my fabric idea for the ceremony. I was thinking of sending a piece of fabric with every invite, along with a fabric pen and directions: “write your hope or wish for us in our new life together.” The fabric will then decorate the arch in the garden where we’re gettin’ hitched, and eventually we’ll make a quilt with it. I think my brain’s a good deal ahead of my actual skills on this one.
