Today marks the 600th day I’ve kept a food log. Yep, 600 days. Not all in a row – there was a few months in there that I either didn’t care or couldn’t or what not. But it’s been the best way I’ve found to eat better.
The first time I tried it was for a health class that I took by correspondence in high school. I think I took the class via correspondence because I was otherwise overbooked. It was pretty easy stuff, but for one unit I had to write down everything I ate. Wow, does that change things. (Being held accountable will do that.) I’ve been applying that logic for 600 days now! (With regular off days, of course. Everything in moderation, of course, including moderation.)
I’ve been doing this since August. I don’t know if it’s helping me though. I write down my weight, what I ate, and if I exercise that day, the calories burned. My meals during the day are moderated; it’s dinner that always gets me. I need to try to curb my appetite.
I can totally relate. Usually I try to stop snacking at 9 or 10pm, which is effective. I think eating more during the day would help me, but most days I’m a little more focused on other things!
